High School Scholarship Application Information
True Life Development Center is currently accepting applications for scholarship from graduating high school seniors attending college for the 2026-2027 school year. Applicants should have the following credentials:
- Graduating high school senior in Jefferson County, Alabama, from public, private, or home-school institutions.
- Entering college to begin their secondary education.
- GPA of at least 2.0 or higher.
- Selected students must enroll & attend their selected college either in the fall term or winter term, otherwise they will forfeit their scholarship award.
- Award amounts are not upwards changeable, (if a student submits an application for a 4-year degree but enrolls in a 2-year institution, then he/she will be awarded at the 2-year rate. If a student enrolls in a 4-year institution but applied for the 2-year award, he/she will only be awarded for the 2-year rate).
To be considered for scholarship, applicants must provide the following:
- Complete an application form online and submit everything by April 29, 2026
- Provide (1) Academic Letter of Recommendation from a school official, such as a teacher, principal, or counselor on school letterhead
- Provide (1) Character Letter of Recommendation from religious/civic leader, employer, volunteer supervisor or community leader
- Provide a student copy of high school transcript {PLEASE BLACK OUT SSN ON TRANSCRIPT}
- Complete and submit Certification Form
- Essay “LOVE IS WHAT LOVE DOES” 1000-1500 words
- Essay will be blind graded. If your name appears on any part of the essay the packet will be disqualified.
AWARDS, NOTIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Applicants who are awarded scholarships will be notified in mid-May.
- Two (2) $1000 Scholarships will be awarded to applicants to attend a 4-year institution of higher education
- Two (2) $500 Scholarships will be awarded to applicants to attend a 2-year institution of higher education, or accredited vocational trade school.
Scholarship Checks shall be written to the institution upon proof of enrollment from the registrar’s office. A reminder notification may be sent with a deadline for submitting enrollment information, if information is not submitted by that deadline the recipient will forfeit the award.
